University of Oklahoma physics professor, Michael Strauss, a particle physicist involved in research at the Large Hadron Collider [i], has been delivering a lecture titled “Scientific Evidence for the Existence of God” at universities across the United States. He points to the apparent design of the universe and the uniqueness of our planet.

According to Dr. Strauss, there are 322 parameters needed to form a planet capable of sustaining intelligent life. The probability that all 322 could develop by chance is ten to the minus -282.

I recently read an article detailing the estimated presence of about one trillion microbes on the earth. The amazing part is, that at present, 99.999 % of them remain undiscovered. It is humbling to realize just how far we are from discovering all that is out there.

It seems obvious to me that the world and the unique life contained therein, was designed to work together as it does. The theory of evolution has been so intricately woven in the fabric of our educational system, that it is no longer embraced as “theory” but rather as “fact.” When individuals point out to the educational world, the evidence for design, they are mocked and told that science has proven evolution. But when someone with the credentials of Michael Strauss (whose PhD dissertation was entitled “A Study of Lambda Polarization and Phi Spin Alignment in Electron-Positron Annihilation at 29 GeV as a Probe of Color Field Behavior”), states the case for the scientific evidence for the existence of God, the public takes notice.

The Bible presents creation as prima facie, (a matter that appears to be self-evident from the facts); therefore, the Bible makes little effort to convince the reader of creation’s divine origin, but simply states that it is so. In declaring the divine origin of creation, the Bible also establishes the divine plan behind our own existence. The Bible simply states, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (Psalm 139:14) You and I are masterpieces of God’s ingenuity, a testament to His intelligent design, created to be loved by Him and to love Him in return.

So the next time you make a whopping mistake, or feel like your life is insignificant, remember that you were created by God for His good pleasure, and that He who created you, also has a plan to partner with you to establish His presence around the world, in the church, in the classroom, and in the mind blowing arena of particle science.
